Treat Your Loved One to a Romantic Valentine’s Weekend This Year

If you are hoping to do something a little different for Valentine’s Day this year, why not think about taking your partner away somewhere for a long weekend? The day itself falls on a Friday in 2014, making it the perfect day to set off for a trip somewhere.

Getting away for a few days is super romantic, and will show your loved one how much you really care. Take some time to spend together, just the two of you – no work to do, no clients to call, no distractions!

Here are some of our favourite destinations for the ultimate in romantic getaways; use them as inspiration and you won’t go wrong!

Shopping in Gay Paris

If your partner is a dedicated follower of fashion, you can seriously get in the good books by whisking them over to the shopping capital of the continent and allowing yourself to be carted around all the stores!

Hire the classically French Citroen 2CV to chauffeur the two of you around Paris, then get some personal fashion advice courtesy of the vintage clothes trader Tara Monroe, who will take you to some of the very finest boutiques as well as some of the best kept secrets in France’s fashionable capital!

If you really want to make a big impression, go for a meal in the Jules Vernes – the best of the three restaurants in the Eiffel Tower! Head over to a website like Secretescapes.com to see some of the greatest hotels and places to stay in the wonderful city of Paris, or book as a package if you’re hoping to minimise the stress of organising!

Spa Luxury and Golfing Fun in Northern Ireland

Down in Newcastle (the one in Northern Ireland, not the one with the Geordies – it’s about thirty miles south of Belfast) you will find the Slieve Donard Hotel and Spa. This lovely place is one of the few destinations on the planet where you will feel as though a quick 18 holes on Valentine’s Day is a good idea!

Once home to the British Open, the course is not an easy one by any stretch of the imagination, but you’ll be able to slake off any golf-related stresses in the glorious spa. An infinity pool awaits you there, as do a number of different treatments, including an amazing hot stone massage and some fab manicures. You could even go on a horse ride around the nearby Mourne Mountains for the perfect way to finish up the weekend.

Bike around Vienna

If you fancy getting away a little further than the norm (not too far though – it’s only a weekend!), then what could be better than the Austrian capital? The city itself is beautiful, so it matters less what you do than where you’re doing it: try visiting some of the local bars and micro-breweries for a tipsy trip!

Cycle together along the lovely cobbled streets, taking in the sights as you go. Two places we would recommend you don’t miss: the gorgeous palace of Schönbrunn and the lovely gardens of the Schweizerhaus.
