Ideas for Cooking Holidays in Spain
Some of the more popular Spanish dishes are coming into the limelight as time goes on. In England, it was not long ago that you would never have seen a Spanish dish in the oven, but now there are some well recognisable dishes like; Paella, Tapas and Gazapacho, which can all be found in a variety of restaurants. If you want to improve your Spanish cuisine, then you could learn in England, but why not have a holiday at the same time and learn from those really in the know? The trip can be easy on your wallet thanks to the many budget airline flights available to Spain, plus you’ll definitely cut down on the cost of dining out – you’ll be cooking yourself! Here, we explore a few places to visit in Spain where a Spanish style cooking course can be incorporated into the trip.
Malaga, Spain
There are plenty of courses on the Spanish south coast, but Malaga is a great destination for holidays and cooking courses. The Spanish cooking holiday in Andalucia is a seven day/six night holiday where you receive 24 hours worth of tuition on Spanish cuisine. During your course, you will be prepared a dinner on three nights and lunch on two days. There is also wine and tapas tasting and transfer to and from the airport. The school is based in Torrox, and it starts on a Sunday. This is a fantastic course for those who already have a bit of experience.
Barcelona, Spain
As well as the above, there are plenty of shorter cooking courses to be found in Spain. Barcelona has two world-class short courses on offer that can slot in nicely with any stay. The more expensive of these courses costs from £72 and it is a general Spanish cooking course lasting four hours. If you are looking for something quick, these courses are ideal. Furthermore, as it is a one-day you can check to see if you enjoy it before committing yourself to something longer.
Valencia, Spain
If you are looking for something that is great value for money, then this five-day cookery course, seven-day stay in Valencia is ideal for everybody. From just £255 this course is cost-effective and great for those new to Spanish cookery. The school is a 19th century setup, which really adds to the Spanish feeling. Included in your trip is a visit to the local food markets, food tasting, all cooking materials, 15 hours worth of lessons and a guided tour of Horchata Route among others. This course is ideal and is available throughout 2012.
If you want to learn some of the tricks of the Spanish cooking trade from the experts themselves, a Spanish cooking holiday is ideal. Remember there are loads of these courses available everywhere in the country so make sure you explore an area that you want to visit then look for a cooking course rather than the other way around.
